Hotel Parking Options:
The hotel offers valet parking. The cost for valet is a $28. This includes in & out privileges.
There are two nearby alternatives (ideal for those planning to drive to town, but not wanting to use their car much after arrival).
The Lowertown Ramp is located across the street from the hotel. The evening and weekend rate is $5 but you'll have to pay every time you leave.
Union Depot (Self-park): Lot B - This parking lot is located to the right of the building if you are at our main entrance. The evening and weekend rate is $4. They also have event parking for $15. We do not know if there will be other "events" in downtown St. Paul that weekend.
Brian's parents Sharon & Jeff did a test-run of the hotel when they were last in town. They compiled a few tips that might useful!
You can park on the street directly in front of the hotel entrance while you check-in and unload your car. There are luggage carts available.
When you enter the first set of doors you will need to push the call button on the left by the revolving door to be let in. After check in you will use your room key to enter via the swipe pad on handrail in the middle.
We suggest parking in the Lowertown Ramp across the street. From the valet parking “cut out” turn left on Sibley. Immediately on your left is the entrance. Take a ticket and park. You pay as you exit (put ticket in and then charge card, there is no attendant). Weekdays are $14, Friday and Saturday are only $5 (so even if you go in and out a few times it is much cheaper than the valet).
When you are heading back to Wisconsin one ramp has been closed, not sure if it will be in November. But we found the easiest way was to load your car in the valet area of hotel. Then continue on Kellogg Blvd., Turn right onto Hiawatha Trail/Mounds Blvd. and it merges right onto I-94E.
The rooms are spacious. All have a small u-shape sectional that has a sleeper sofa, hotel size refrigerator (no microwave), ironing board & iron, blow dryer (not attached to wall that you can use in different room) and lighted/magnified makeup mirror (attached to the bathroom wall).
A pool area and an exercise room are available for use on the 3rd floor.
Some floors have a nice seating area, all have public bathrooms.
Breakfast area has lots of seating and even overflows into the lobby area if more is needed.
Hours: Weekdays 6:30am-9am, Weekends 7am-10am.
For those people driving in via Wisconsin here are a few tips (and a few for entry to hotel):
If you need gas before you enter the city or even want to fill up so you don’t have to on your way home, Exit 10 has a Flying J and Exit 4 has a TA. Both were the same price.
Take Exit 243 (US 61/Mounds Blvd). This will take you pretty much onto Kellogg Blvd. GPS will take you to hotel, but you will be on the wrong side of the street. If you want to avoid trying to make a U-Turn we suggest that you Turn Right on Sibley, Left of 4th, Left on Jackson, then Left on Kellogg. This will put you in front of the hotel which has a “cut out” for valet parking that fits about 6 cars. You can park here to check in.
